Hands sorting cocoa beans spread across a table

Questions buyers ask first

Before you ask

Minimums, samples, testing, documents, shipping terms and how a price is set, answered from the same facts as the rest of this site.

What do you supply?

Vanilla beans in four grades (Grade A gourmet whole beans, Grade B whole beans, extraction grade and EP cut beans) and cocoa (powder, natural or alkalised, and butter, natural or deodorised). Every lot ships with a certificate of analysis.

What is the minimum order?

Mid-tier lots start at 1 kg and run to 25 kg. Bulk lots run from 250 kg to 5 t. Retail packs come in 25 g to 1 kg pouches and tubes of 2, 5 or 10 beans. Tell us the quantity you need in the quote form and we quote per lot.

Can I get a sample first?

Yes. Any food business can request a free 50 g graded sample; extract houses and importers can request 200 to 500 g with the full certificate of analysis. We confirm within one business day and follow up seven days after the sample arrives.

How is every lot tested?

We sample each lot and send it to an accredited laboratory for vanillin by HPLC, moisture, water activity, mould and yeast, aflatoxin, heavy metals and a pesticide multi-residue screen. The certificate of analysis travels with the lot. A lot that fails never ships as Grade A.

What documents come with a shipment?

The certificate of analysis for the lot, a phytosanitary certificate, a certificate of origin and a halal certificate. Tell us in the quote form if your import needs anything else.

How do you ship, and on what terms?

By sea or air, worldwide: FOB origin port, CIF or CFR to your port, or air freight for small lots. Beans are vacuum-packed in 1 kg and 5 kg food-grade pouches inside lined cartons, each labelled with origin, harvest window and lot number.

How are vanilla grades defined?

Grade A: whole, unsplit beans of 14 cm and up, moisture 25 to 33 percent, vanillin 1.8 percent and up by HPLC. Grade B: whole beans with vanillin 1.2 percent and up, moisture and length stated on the lot CoA. Extraction grade: moisture 18 to 25 percent, bought on vanillin and moisture rather than looks. EP cut beans are cut to buyer specification.

Are the cocoa specifications guaranteed?

Cocoa specifications on the site are indicative. The binding values for moisture, bean count and cut-test defects are the ones on each lot's certificate of analysis.

How are prices set?

We do not publish a price list. Every quote is written for one grade, quantity and destination and names the lot it will ship from. Bulk prices follow a published discount to the equivalent Madagascar grade, reviewed every quarter against a transparent index, with a price-escalation clause after six months. New bulk accounts pay a 30 percent deposit; mid-tier accounts move to net-30 terms after two orders.

How are beans stored before shipping?

At 15 to 20 degrees Celsius with controlled humidity, from the curing house until the day they are loaded. Cartons are rotated by lot, first in, first out, so every carton still matches its certificate.

How quickly do you reply?

Within one business day, Monday to Friday. For a price, use the quote form: it asks for grade, quantity and destination so the first reply can carry a number.

Where are you based?

Our head office and the plantation and curing house are listed in the footer of every page. Every shipment carries a certificate of origin naming the country of production.
